Site and Surroundings
The site is located on the southern edge of Newcastle City Centre, approximately 0.2 miles walk from Central Station and immediately to the south of the railway. The site is 0.7 miles walk from both Newcastle and Northumbria University.
The site is bounded to the north by Forth Street which runs along the south side of an elevated section of railway. To the west is Genting Casino and its car park, to the east is Clavering House (Newcastle Business Centre) and Roomzzz Hotel. Clavering Place becomes Hanover Street at the southern boundary.
The site is approximately 0.21 hectares. The site is clear of any structures since the last remaining building, a listed chapel, collapsed in 2012. The site has been archaeologically investigated and a great deal of noteworthy artefacts were recovered, further preserving the rich history of the area.

Planning consent granted for Clavering Place., with a unanimous decision from committee members.
A planning application for the proposals has been submitted to Newcastle City Council in February 2014.

Site History
The site was last occupied by the British Manufacturing and Electrical Co. The site is now clear of any structures since the last remaining building, a listed chapel, collapsed in 2012. The site has been archaeologically investigated and a great deal of noteworthy artefacts were recovered, further preserving the rich history of the area.
In 2008, planning permission was granted for the erection of a three/four storey office building with basement parking. This permission has now lapsed, therefore, there are no extant planning permissions for any developments on the site.
Next Steps
A planning application for the proposals was submitted to Newcastle City Council in February 2014. It has now been formally registered by the council and the public now have the opportunity to review the plans and make comments directly to the council during this determination process.
